It all begins with an idea.
The Real Killer: The poison was not just a random act of sabotage. It was part of a plot to kill Sparky, orchestrated by someone looking to claim the rare seedling for themselves and profit from it. It turns out that Ivy (the arborist) had been secretly experimenting with hybridizing Sparky’s tree species for personal gain.
The Motive: Ivy had a financial interest in creating a new, hybrid species of tree that could be sold at a high price. Sparky’s age and the tree’s uniqueness were both obstacles. In a moment of desperation, Ivy resorted to poisoning the tree and staging the crime to cover her tracks during the night Nov 5th, the full moon known as the Beaver Moon!
